This paper will first examine the professional profile of the class teacher at Waldorf schools. In the following section, the duration of the class teacher period will be discussed. Afterwards, a survey will be presented that sheds light on how the “Waldorf-specific” eight-year class teacher principle is handled at Waldorf schools across Europe. Particular attention will be given to the Netherlands. Finally, three Waldorf teachers from three conceptually different Waldorf schools will be interviewed about their experiences.
