Wars, violence, and natural disasters threaten many—but especially children are affected by the feeling of nowhere being safe. They find it especially difficult to understand and process man-made disasters. These events happening around them influence though their entire lives and their development. Pedagogical and therapeutical offerings can help to lessen their traumata and prevent trauma related disorders. The Friends of Waldorf Education—emergency pedagogy department invite all interested persons to their annual conference from June 9th to 11th, to delve more deeply into this topic and to take part in the sixth emergency pedagogy conference in Karlsruhe.
How are the development and lives of children affected by man-made disasters?
How can we prevent these hardships from becoming stress factors which lead to traumata?
And how can emergency and trauma pedagogy help to integrate experiences into one’s biography?
We want to explore these questions together.
